Who doesn’t love comics? I always loved them as a kid. Trying to act grown up, of course I hid my passion. Now I am adult enough to confess my “childish love” to sequential arts.
Worldwide there are only a few schools dedicated to this amazing art form which captures people of all ages with its stories and art. While planing for a business trip to New York I discovered one of these rare gems nearby and signed up for a cartoon course without hesitation.
Joined by my beloved wife, we had the great pleasure to have accomplished Cartoonist Hilary Price share her knowledge with us during a 5 day long Single Panel Workshop at the Center for Cartoon Studies in June, 2017.
Hilary was an excellent teacher with lots patience and tips not just how to develop the art itself, but also regarding the business and career of a cartoonist. Lots of exercises helped to tickle our creative juices and teach us many things to develop and match our own text and drawings. We produced an amazing amount of drawings over 5 days, starting from pretty basic exercises of simple facial expressions to more complex body gestures up to finally single panels telling a story. Much could be said, but in short: a highly recommended teacher at an excellent school with great people.
Below some of the drawings we produced, most unfinished drafts scribbled within a short period of time (which frees your mind and forces you to be productive). Without pretending to be being humble, I can say I was as usual the worst artist in class. I was very grateful to learn from my fellow gifted students and much better artists.

May the art be with you.
